Computex 2025 – SOIC Marine Solutions Enhances Marine Safety

Yen-Chih Lai, COO of SOIC Marine Solutions SMS), speaks with Maurizio Di Paolo Emilio, Editor-in-Chief of Power Electronics News and embedded.com, about his company and their technology showcase at the recent COMPUTEX 2025 show in Taipei, Taiwan.

The startup, founded three years ago, aims to enhance marine safety by providing a situational awareness system integrated into HMI devices to provide the driver of the ship (helmsman or skipper) information to prevent potential accidents.

Lai talks about how they came to establish SOIC Marine Solutions, about the massive data challenge that they encountered when developing their system, and how they utilized AI training for the situational awareness function.
